“Dairy products are rich in nutrients, vitamins and other bioactive compounds that can favorably influence glucose metabolism – the body’s processing of sugar,” says researcher Annalisa Giosuè, one of the study’s authors, in a statement.

Additionally, the same study also found that red and processed meat can have the opposite effect and increase the risk of diabetes. So to replace it, the authors of the study recommend eating fish and eggs.

Overall, the dietary guidelines, recommended for preventing type 2 diabetes, focus on eating plant-based foods like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, and olive oil. . It is also recommended to limit the consumption of animal products.
