Ex-Benfica signed until 2027
Rayo Vallecano confirmed this Tuesday the signing of Raúl de Tomás. The Spanish international, ex-Benfica, signed until 2027 on his return to Madrid – he had already played two seasons at the club – after, during this market and transfers, he was associated with several clubs… and controversies. The two clubs negotiated the transfer of the 27-year-old before the end of the first transfer window of the 2022/23 season, but failed to reach an agreement, which has only just been agreed. According to ‘As’, Rayo will pay Espanyol 8 million euros for RdT (a figure that can reach 11 if certain variables are met), making striker Rayo the most expensive signing after overtaking Álvaro García (5 million), Kakuta (4) or Advincula (3). Raúl de Tomás, who previously represented Rayo Vallecano in 2017/18 and 2018/19 on loan from Real Madrid, has not appeared in any official or pre-Espanyol matches this season, according to which the striker was recovering an injury and train individually.
The striker was signed in January 2020 by Espanyol, for 20 ME (plus two ME depending on goal achievement), a record amount for the Catalan club at the time, having established himself as one of the most influential players in the team, with 89 games and 45 goals.
