Overlooking the coveted Lac Desmarais in Mont-Tremblant, this large house provides direct access to the water’s edge, to the delight of lovers of water sports without a gas engine.

Originally from Ontario, Anne Milne is a skier always loved at the Mont-Tremblant resort. “I have very fond memories of it when I was young, and when we left Orléans to settle in downtown Ottawa with Alec, my husband, we thought it was an escape , reports it to you. Our friend Michel Naud [courtier immobilier] we found a superb condo on the mountain and it was so fantastic that we always had the visit. »

First for the lake

After a Christmas where, between the family and the friends of their two daughters, 15 people found themselves in the apartment, the couple was tempted to acquire a chalet. After several unsuccessful visits, their courtier invited them to explore lots at Lake Desmarais.

It is one of the most beautiful lakes in Quebec and one of the cleanest because there are no motorboats. I was really delighted with the idea of having a chalet by the water, it was love at first sight with the land, so we bought it.

Anne Milne, Owner

The couple wanted a home that maximized water views and a homey interior. He chose to call on a local company, Maisons HR, for the construction. “They really listened to me and advised me taking into account the photos I had collected. I’m the one who created pretty much everything, except the wine cellar, which my husband had the idea of and which is like his baby. »

A beautiful tribute

Anne and Alec Milne put a lot of energy and love into this house, which they extended to the first level to create a bedroom and a bathroom especially for the grandparents.

“We thought about everyone’s comfort when planning, because we wanted to bring together family and friends for festive and pleasant moments, summer and winter alike. Also, on one painted the house in red to honor my mom, because it was her favorite color and she was going blind,” says the hostess.

This unedited teite in the corner earned it its nickname of Red House by the neighborhood.

Fun in all seasons

Everything is programmed to maximize well-being and the joy of living inside, where natural clarity flows in.

We enjoy the view of the trees and the water from everywhere, and the different areas of the open area are circumscribed by black steel beams.

A wine cellar with permanent storage of 900 bottles completes the ground floor and extends to the basement, or if there is a home theater. “On one also an infrared sauna. As we ski a lot and hate clutter, I have fitted out a large mudroom where everyone can easily hang on to their things on their way back from the mountain”, explains Anne Milne.

The central staircase, devoid of risers, leaves the light circular and leads to three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an office. The master bedroom is equipped with a very elegant curved design bed. “For sale of furniture with the house”, informs the owner. The couple’s daughters live in Ontario and British Columbia, so the cottage is a lot less busy now.

“A small side that wants to sell it to move on and a small side that doesn’t want to sell it because I really like this place and we have a great time there. The location is amazing and everything is easy going. We have also chosen to plant native plants in the yard so as not to have any maintenance to do. It’s really a beautiful place, both for being there all year round and for vacationing,” says Anne Milne.
