The central defender added the first minutes in the official games of the Eagles first team
The 18-year-old centre-back António Silva added the first official minutes of the Reds main team in Benfica’s 3-0 win over Boavista at the Bessa stadium on Saturday. The Seixal-trained footballer teamed up with the Brazilian Morato in the center of the Eagles’ defence, facing the suspension of Otamendi – who was sent off in the Eagles’ last game for accumulating yellow cards – making a safe save, which even deserved the praise from coach Roger Schmidt after the final whistle.
Those compliments don’t stop there. On social media, after Benfica got three more points in the league, the centre-back expressed his gratitude to the club for making a dream come true, in a post in which several teammates (and even former teammates) wanted to congratulate the young player.
Diego Moreira, Samuel Soares, Hugo Félix, Tiago Coser, Franculino Djú, Morato, Pizzi, Chiquinho, Julian Weigl, Vlachodimos, Florentino Luís and Paulo Bernardo were some of the players with a present or past associated with Benfica who left a mark little comment in Antonio Silva’s post.
