Doogee S98 Pro: the smartphone with thermal camera gets a release date

THE smartphone Doogee S98 Pro has had its prices published and got a release date: June 6. The highlight of the device is the camera including a 48 MP Sony IMX582 main sensor and a 20 MP Sony IMX350 night vision sensor. The main attribute that differentiates the Pro version from the standard S98 is the Thermal camera (or thermographic), which uses an InfiRay sensor.

What can the thermal camera offer?

The thermal camera of the Doogee S98 Pro promises to display and measure temperatures in real time while capturing a moment. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone “integrates a professional infiRay® thermal image sensor with 256×192 resolution, which brings a huge 2.5 times increase in the number of thermal pixels than others. Combined with a higher frame rate of 25Hz, it delivers smoother images to help accurately detect drafts, humidity, leaks, electrical shorts, blockages, or high temperatures .

The dual-spectrum blending algorithm can incorporate details such as contour and texture captured by the 48 MP visible light camera into the thermal image, greatly improving the resolution of the actual scene and target, while fully preserving the original infrared image.

Meanwhile, the night vision sensor promises to be able to display images in total darkness, like a security camera. It won’t allow you to take very sharp images, but it will give you an idea of what’s in the dark.
