Fuel prices will rise again next week

Written by admin

From what SIC has learned, next week will bring another increase in fuel prices, with the biggest increase per liter of diesel.

Next week, diesel is expected to increase by five cents per litre. Gasoline is expected to increase by 2.5 cents per litre.

This morning, the price of crude was falling slightly, with each barrel trading at $106.

This expected increase for the last week of April follows the trend of this week and contradicts that of the beginning of the month, during which there were two weeks of falling prices.

Government proposal approved to mitigate prices

This Friday, Parliament approved the government’s proposal which provides for measures to contain the rise in energy and agrifood prices, which includes a suspension of the minimum rates of the tax on petroleum products (ISP).

The proposal had the votes in favor of the PS, PSD, IL, BE and the single MP for the Book, with the abstention of Chega, PCP and PAN.

Among other measures, the The government’s initiative provides for the suspension of the minimum ceilings of the minimum ISP tariffs, applicable to diesel and unleaded gasoline, determining that this can be fixed “up to the minimum rate of zero euros”.

The objective is to reflect in this tax an effect equivalent to that which would result from the reduction of VAT on fuels at the rate of 13%.
