Rio Ave lost the leadership of La Liga 2 after being beaten in Madeira against Nacional by 2-0. An unblemished triumph for the island team who were almost always better throughout the game. In a well-played game, Nacional built the best scoring opportunities but failed to finish.
Rio Ave only created danger very sporadically with quick starts for the attack. Madeira’s supremacy was rewarded in the final part of the game with goals from Marco Matias in the 78th minute and Camacho in the 83rd.
With the triumph, Nacional retain sixth place, now with 44 points, while Rio Ave have fallen to second place with 57 points, two behind leaders Casa Pia, who has 59.
