Harry Maguire won’t forget the way he was treated by England fans in Tuesday’s game against the Ivory Coast: centre-back Man. United were whistled as soon as his name was announced in England’s starting line-up and also when he touched the ball.
Coach Gareth Southbate was outraged: “The way he was received was ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. His way of playing was phenomenal, I can’t say. Either we are all together or we are not,” he said.
