LE BAL – Luís Castro is already in Rio de Janeiro: “Now it’s work, work and work” (Botafogo)

Luís Castro arrived in Rio de Janeiro this morning, appearing in the arrivals area together with Botafogo investor, American John Textor.

A few dozen fans are waiting for him, the coach releasing the first words:

“We arrived to work in a big club. Clubs with a soul are always clubs where you can develop the best work, I come with this expectation. I know we have very loyal fans at the club who want to win and be successful, we identify with that a lot. Now it’s work, work and work. We know that only hard work can bring success.

Luís Castro will be at the Maracanã this evening to watch the second leg of the semi-finals of the Carioca Championship, with Botafogo having a 0-1 disadvantage against Fluminense.

The coach was asked if the passage and presence of successful Portuguese coaches, namely Jorge Jesus and Abel Ferreira, put more pressure on his shoulders:

“For me there are no Portuguese, English, Spanish or Dutch coaches. For me there are football coaches. There is no more or less responsibility because a coach has done this or that. My responsibility is to be faithful to my principles and to be very conscious of the profession that I am developing. I put pressure on myself, I don’t need anyone to put pressure on me. Because my conscience tells me to push me every day.

Castro arrived with assistants João Brandão and Vítor Severino. In the next few years, the goalkeeping coach, a physical trainer and a performance analyst will arrive.
