UEFA has officially confirmed, through a note on its website, that it has received a “statement of interest” from Russia to stage the 2028 or 2032 European Championships, despite the fact that Russian teams and national teams have been excluded from international competitions by UEFA and FIFA, following the invasion and the war in Ukraine.
UEFA also confirms that Turkey has also expressed interest in hosting one of the aforementioned editions of the European Championship. The deadline ended precisely this Thursday.
It is recalled that for 2028 there was already the joint candidacy of the United Kingdom and the Rep. Ireland, while for 2032, in addition to Turkey and Russia, Italy also intends to host the tournament.
The hosts for both competitions will be announced in September 2023.
