California Kid Fritz ends Nadal’s unbeaten streak, wins 1st Masters 1000 in Indian Wells

Taylor Fritz, The 24-year-old American, who has long been touted as part of the future of world tennis, accomplished the feat of ending the unbeaten streak of Rafael Nadal in 2022 (20-0) and won his first ATP Masters 1000 title of his career, in the middle of Indian Wells, in “his” state of California.

Playing the most important match of his career – Fritz had only one ATP 250 title in his life – the American, world number 20 (but will enter the top 15 for the first time on Monday) beat the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, world number. four and three times winner of this race, 6-3 and 7-6(5), in 2h10. Fritz was doubtful for the game with a right ankle injury, but it was the 35-year-old Spaniard who suffered a lot of punctures physically.
