To prevent the appearance of new epidemics of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the Health Surveillance of Montenegro will carry out, at the end of the afternoon of this Thursday 17, a new application of insecticide in the patios of certain residences of the Center. The procedure will begin at 6 p.m. at the end of the block between Santo Antônio and Assis Brasil streets, at João Pessoa and Travessa Teobaldo Pasini and also at Valeska Lampert.

Yesterday, Wednesday 16, the employees of the sector already carried out the procedure between Coronel Antônio Inácio and João Pessoa and Hugo Wolgemuth streets with Santos Dumont. This same section will receive a new application on Saturday, at 6:30 a.m., if it does not rain. This Friday the 18th, also at 6:30 a.m., it will be the turn of Rua Flores da Cunha. The section that will receive the procedure will be between CRVA and Daltro Filho Street.

For the application of the insecticide, it is important that the residents remove, from the front of the houses, the animals and the pots of food and water to protect the animals. Currently, Montenegro has 14 positive cases of dengue fever and 15 suspected cases. A total of 142 positive foci of Aedes aegypti were found that year in the city. Of these, more than 50 in Centro, 30 in Senai and 28 in Rui Barbosa.

As Montenegro is currently experiencing a dengue fever outbreak, health surveillance is asking people to use repellent. “Use is extremely important for community advocacy. The virus is circulating,” reflects Beatriz, saying that outbreaks of the insect must also be eliminated immediately. Officers continue on the streets alerting the population and inspecting homes for mosquito outbreaks. Further applications of insecticides in other locations could take place in the coming days.
