Elden Ring has sold 12 million units worldwide

Ring of Elden is the biggest hit of 2022 to date and this is reflected in its sales. FromSoftware revealed on its official website that the company’s new action-RPG has already sold 12 million copies, including 1 million in Japan alone. Most impressive of these numbers is that the game was released less than a month ago, on February 25.

To compare, the Dark Souls franchise reached the 27 million copies sold mark in 2020being 10 million just from Dark Souls 3. Therefore, Elden Ring sold 44% of that total in less than 1% of the time.

The feat was celebrated by Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware President and Game Directorwho said “It’s amazing how many people have played Ring of Elden. I would like to express our sincere thanks on behalf of the entire development team.” It further completes “We hope players will enjoy a high level of freedom as they venture into their vast worldexploring its many secrets and facing its many threats.”

Yasuo Miyakawa, president of Bandai Namco who published the game, was also very happy about it. “It takes a lot of effort to Ring of Elden exceed the expectations of our fans around the world. In the same way, We will continue our efforts to extend the brand beyond the game itself and into everyone’s daily life.. We will continue to create fun and satisfaction through entertainment so that we can reach and connect with our fans around the world.”

At the beginning of last month, Ring of Elden It was already the top game on Steam users’ wishlists. Last week it was announced that he was the most downloaded game on PlayStation Store in February. Its success is clear, but the numbers are even more impressive than expected.
