If it wasn’t already obvious from the name, the Ace 3 is a third-generation smartphone that will succeed the original Xperia Ace from 2019 and the Xperia Ace 2, which arrived in 2020. At first glance, the third generation of the Xperia Ace doesn’t seem to bring any big surprises, and everything points to the likelihood of being an incremental update over its predecessor.
THE Apple is perhaps the first company that comes to mind when thinking of smartphones with small screens, as it has not one, but two compact smartphones in its 2022 lineup – the iPhone SE (2022) and the iPhone 13 Mini. with the world android not very interested in launching small smartphones, it might come as a surprise that sony being a big proponent of this more compact form factor. The company made the line sony Xperia As compact devices since 2019, and it looks like the 2022 iteration of the Xperia Ace should be revealed very soon.
Popular smartphone leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer – in collaboration with Indian publication Zollege – recently shared the first CAD renderings of a new compact smartphone, called Sony Xperia Ace 3. These renders, which Steve does himself, are based on initial product plans and CAD drawings sent to third-party accessory manufacturers.
If it wasn’t already obvious from the name, the Ace 3 is a third-generation smartphone that will succeed the Xperia Ace original from 2019 and at Xperia Ace 2which arrived in 2020. At first glance, the third-generation Xperia Ace doesn’t seem to bring any big surprises, and everything indicates that it’s probably an incremental update over its predecessor.
The following Sony Xperia Ace 3 it’s nearly identical to its compact predecessor from 2020 in design and overall size, at least according to the renders, and it happens to have a slightly smaller body. However, the new model is slightly thicker than the previous model (9.1 mm instead of 8.9 mm). This small change in dimensions does not affect the size of the screen. This is why the Xperia Ace 3 retains the familiar 5.5-inch display we saw on the Ace 2 in 2020.
Moving on to the rear panel, the sony seems to have gotten rid of the 2MP depth sensor on the Ace 3, which now only gets a single 13MP rear camera. The Ace 3 render shows a front camera housed inside the waterdrop notch. While we don’t have details on the sensor used here, it’s likely to be the same 8MP sensor we found in last year’s Ace 2, unless, of course, the sony decide to update it.
The rest of the design – including the side fingerprint reader and volume buttons – are all derived from the Xperia Ace 2.
The rest of the hardware specifications of the Sony Xperia Ace 3 still remain secret. For example, we still don’t know what processor this phone will feature. However, since the Ace 2 was powered by the chipset MediaTek Helio P35, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the Ace 3 would be aimed at the low-end market. Thus, you can present an entry-level chipset. It would be interesting to see if the device will finally make the leap to networks 5G this time.
The marginal change in dimensions should have no impact on the size of the drums of Xperia Ace 3and there’s a good chance it will retain the Ace 2’s 4,500mAh battery. It remains to be seen if the Ace 3 gets a wider output network than the Ace 2, which only released than in Japan.
While we don’t have a confirmed release date for this one, Steve does point to the likelihood of this model releasing by June 2022. Knowing that the Sony Xperia Ace 3 certainly won’t be a rival to the iPhone SE in terms of hardware performance, will it be successful?
