Eight Safe Symptoms of Omicron and When They Occur – Lifestyle

Written by admin

In the first months after Omicron was detected in different parts of the world, scientists and doctors identified the main symptoms associated with the new variant and learned how they differed from classic Covid-19 symptoms. In addition, experts have also determined when symptoms of Omicron are most likely to manifest, reports an article published by Times of India.

According to data from countries such as the United Kingdom, United States of America and South Africa, the eight most common symptoms of Omicron are:

– Scratched Throat

– Back ache

– Runny nose/nasal congestion

– Headache

– tired

– sneezing

– night sweats

– Body pain

Experts have compared these warning signs to the mild discomfort felt due to a cold or the flu.

However, Professor Tim Spector, director of the coronavirus study app Zoe COVID Symptom Study App in the UK, is urging anyone with these symptoms to be tested for Covid-19 immediately.

When do they show up? Is the incubation period shorter for Ômicron?

The World Health Organization (WHO) states: “The incubation period for Covid-19, which is the time between exposure to the virus and the onset of symptoms, is on average 5-6 days, but can be up to 14 days”.

However, with the appearance of the Ômicron strain, experts believe that the incubation period may have been shortened for several reasons.

Available data suggests that signs of Ômicron may appear two days after individuals have come into contact with an infected person.

Ryan Roach, CEO of South African health insurer Discovery Health, said evidence suggests symptoms from Omicron can appear within three days.

However, experts recommend self-isolating for at least 10 days, as symptoms may take longer to appear, even up to 14 days after exposure.
